Ron Jerve

Ron Jerve, of Montevideo, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, April 4, 2026 surrounded by his family at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth at the age of 75.

Memorial services will be held Monday, April 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Ronald Marvin Jerve was born on February 19, 1951, in Montevideo, MN, to Marvin and Arlene (Lund) Jerve. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Ron attended Montevideo High School, graduating in 1969. Following high school, he attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN on a football scholarship.

Ron was united in marriage to Gail Rensch on October 16, 1982, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, SD. They made their home in Montevideo, where Ron worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years. Three children were born to this union: Kelly, Paul, and Jeff.

Ron loved taking to the skies as a pilot and cherished his time outdoors especially muskie fishing, hunting, and spending time at his beloved cabin, a place that he cultivated as a haven for family and friends to gather, share a laugh, a story, and a beer. Nothing made him happier, and more full of life, than a weekend with family on the pontoon on Leech Lake. He was a father to three, but a father-figure and beloved friend and mentor to countless others. In his early years, he lived a life full of adventure and excitement with the help of his friends and siblings (stories are in abundance). Once family came, he selflessly dedicated his entire existence to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He rarely missed his kids and grandchildren's activities.

Ron is survived by his wife, Gail; daughter, Kelly (Kyle) Spray of Pequot Lakes, MN; sons, Paul Jerve of Duluth, MN and Jeff (Ashley) Jerve of Montevideo; grandchildren, Hunter, Stella, and Walker Spray and Sloan and Leo Jerve; siblings, Bruce Jerve and Dave (Chris) Jerve, Joanne (Kris) Kolstad; inlaws Judy (Charlie) Kneip, Gene (Belinda) Rensch, Carol Rensch, Paul (Karin) Rensch; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Merf and Kate Rensch; sister-in-law, Melva Jerve; brother-in-law, Hiram Granberry
