Ruth Elizabeth (Antonson) Hanson passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 92.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hope Reformed Church, Montevideo on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 1:00 pm. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Burial will be at the Sunset Cemetery, Montevideo.
Ruth was born on April 19, 1934 to Emil and Emma (Kruse) Antonson in Granite Falls. She was baptized and made her confession of faith to her Lord and Savior. She graduated from Granite Falls High School.
Ruth married the love of her life, Merlyn Hanson, on July 2, 1954. They were blessed with four children together, Dennis, Karen, Shelly and Scott. She loved spending time with her family.
While Merlyn was serving in the Army she worked at the Granite Falls Bakery. After their marriage she was a housewife and worked in the kitchen at Sanford Elementary School.
Ruth was a member of the Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo, American Legion Post #59 Auxiliary and Heritage Hill. She loved to play Skip-Bo, embroider, color, read her Bible and devotions.
Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were so precious to her. She had a lot of love for people and enjoyed visiting. She was always concerned about others and always told everyone “I love you.” Her faith and love for God was very strong and was shared with her family and everyone.
Ruth and Merlyn enjoyed traveling together to Branson, Niagara Falls, the Black Hills and Florida. No matter if their trips were short or long they enjoyed life together. They loved to look at all the beautiful things that God made.
Ruth is survived by her children, Dennis (Julie) Hanson, Karen (Stan) Kaatz, Shelly (Steve) Anderson and Scott (Sara) Hanson, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death of her husband, parents, sisters, brothers and many other family members.
