Sharon Amelia Homan

Sharon Amelia Homan, age 84, of Clarkfield, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at the Granite Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 10:30 AM St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The family will designate a charity to receive the memorials at a later date.

Sharon Amelia Lund was born on February 20, 1942, at the Clarkfield Hospital to Selmer and Clara (Enstad) Lund. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Later in life, she was confirmed in the Catholic faith at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Granite Falls. Sharon graduated from Granite Falls High School with the class of 1960.

Following graduation, Sharon married the love of her life, Stanley Michael Homan, on August 20, 1960, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Granite Falls. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, farming, and community. Stanley and Sharon would have celebrated 66 years of marriage on August 20, 2026.

To this union, three children were born: Richard, Lori, and Randy.

A true farm wife in every sense of the word, Sharon was a woman of strong faith, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family. She and Stanley spent 18 years farming in Swede Prairie Township, where Sharon stood faithfully beside him through the long days, demanding seasons, and many challenges that came with farm life. They spent the rest of their time on their farm in the Tyro township. Stanley affectionately referred to Sharon as his “gopher,” a fitting testament to the many ways she was always by his side and ready to deliver a meal, or move equipment.

Family was at the heart of Sharon’s life. She and Stanley made it a priority to show up for their children and grandchildren, no matter how busy life on the farm became. She was fiercely devoted to those she loved. Her home was a place where everyone was welcome, and family, friends, and neighbors could always count on finding a warm smile, a good meal, and a place at her table.

Sharon had a gift for making people feel cared for. She was known for her spunky and fun personality, her generous heart, and her ability to bring joy into the lives of those around her. She was an exceptional cook and baker, and many of her favorite recipes and the memories made around her kitchen table will be treasured for years to come.

Her faith was an important part of who Sharon was, and she shared that faith through a lifetime of service. She taught Sunday school and spent many years caring for others through her work at the Clarkfield Care Center. Music was another great love of Sharon’s. She played piano at church for 32 years and generously volunteered her musical talents at the Clarkfield Care Center. Through her music, she brought comfort, joy, and connection to countless people.

From 2012 to 2016, Sharon and Stanley spent their winters in Arizona, creating even more memories together while enjoying a different pace of life. Wherever she was, Sharon had a way of making a place feel like home.

Above all, Sharon will be remembered for her strong faith, her love for Stanley and her family, her welcoming spirit, and the countless ways she cared for others. She lived a life of service and love—not through grand gestures, but through the everyday things that mattered most: a hand extended in help, a meal shared around the table, music played for others, or a word of encouragement,

Sharon leaves behind a beautiful legacy in the family she loved so dearly and in all the lives she touched. Her memory will live on in the stories shared around the table, the recipes passed down, the music she loved, and the many lessons of faith, love, and perseverance she taught by the way she lived.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Stan; children, Rich (Jodi) Homan of Alexandria, MN, Lori (Todd) Risa of Clarkfield, MN and Randy Homan Circle Pines, MN; grandchildren, Jennifer Levitz, Jamie (Chris) Terning, Steven (Anna) Risa, Ashley (Erick) Westberg, Jake (Shenae) Homan, Carli (Casey) Vangsness, Andrew Homan (Heather), Ty (Shelby) Homan, Taylor Homan (Jake), and Tianna (Jason) Hinkeldey; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sister-in-law, Rosemary Homan; and a niece, nephew, several extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Selmer & Clara Lund; parents-in-law, Raymond & Justina Homan; brother-in-law, David Homan.
