Shirley Davis

Shirley Davis, of Montevideo, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 99.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Anderson – TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Pastor Joel Newberg will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Shirley Virginia Davis was born on August 20, 1926, in Montevideo, MN, to Emil and Freda (Schwarzburg) Able. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Shirley attended and graduated from Clara City High School in 1944.

After high school, she entered the workforce and worked as a bookkeeper until marrying Delmar Davis on January 13, 1946. To this union, two children were born. Shirley and Delmar made their home in Montevideo, where they owned and operated Sarge’s Café. Following Delmar’s death in 1974, Shirley continued running the café until the late 1990s.

Shirley had a deep love for animals and enjoyed birdwatching and caring for her many pets over the years. She also found joy in gardening. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends, holding close the many trips and activities they shared together.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Dawn Schuler; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dora Redal; and many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delmar; siblings, Wilber, Quinten, Howard, Dale, Earl and Kenneth; son, Larry; grandson, Blake; son-in-law, Bill Schuler; and daughter-in-law, Robyn Davis.
