Susan Victoria Siverhus (Schutt), 81,passed away on April 19, 2026, as a result of complications from a lengthy illness.
Susan was born on June 23, 1944, in Egg Harbor, New Jersey, to Donald and Victoria (Zines) Schutt. As a toddler, she moved with her family to Granite Falls, Minnesota, where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Granite Falls High School in 1962.
Following graduation, Susan moved to the Twin Cities, where she worked for one year as a telephone operator at Honeywell. She later returned to Granite Falls, where she met the love of her life, Ronald Siverhus, who worked at a gas station alongside her brother. They were united in marriage on June 6, 1964, and together built their life on a farm near Maynard, Minnesota, where they raised their four children.
Susan was deeply involved in her community, serving as a 4-H leader, active member of Saron Lutheran Church, and a supportive “room mother” at the Maynard School.
Susan enjoyed a life centered on family and the simple, meaningful activities she loved. She had a lifelong passion for gardening, canning, preserving, and crafting, and her home reflected her hands-on approach to caring for her family. She enjoyed birdwatching and took great joy in caring for her beloved dogs Bo, Boots, Harley, and Putz.
She also enjoyed puzzles, word finds, and playing cards with family and friends. In her later years at Luther Haven Manor, she rekindled her love of coloring and artistic expression, expanding her crafting interests and creating artwork that brought her pride and joy.
Susan was devoted to her husband and family and found joy in the everyday rhythms of life—time outdoors, tending her garden, and caring for those she loved. She often preferred going barefoot, enjoying a simple connection to the earth long before it became a trend.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Siverhus; her four children, Tracy Sherod (Brad Monson) of Granite Falls, MN; Terry Siverhus (Ronita) of Hannibal, MO; Kevin Siverhus (Angie) of Maynard, MN; and Jon Siverhus (Leanne) of Brandon, SD; as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Dane Sherod, Devon Siverhus, Weston Siverhus, Kelly (Leah) Siverhus, Kylie (Jake) Sanfranski, Ali (Austin) Miller, Claire Siverhus, Samuel Siverhus, and Norah Siverhus. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Mason Sherod, Waylon Siverhus, Lennon Siverhus, Elroy Siverhus, Colter Sanfranski, Beau Sanfranski, and Abel Miller.
Susan is also survived by her brother, Donald (Barbara) Schutt of Russellville, Arkansas; her sister-in-law, Connie Schutt Atkins of Atkins, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Victoria (Zines) Schutt; her brother, Jan Schutt; and her son-in-law, Kevin Sherod.
Susan will be remembered by her family for her gentle spirit and the steady love she gave throughout her life. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured.
