Vera Knutson died on Wednesday, December 15, 1999 at her home in Montevideo at the age of 86.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, December 20, 1999 at 1:30 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Wayne D. Kopitzke officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday afternoon and evening, with the family from 6 - 8 PM with a prayer service at 8 PM , all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo as well as for an hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
Vera Ruth (Nelson) Knutson was born on February 20, 1913 in Nekoma, ND to Peter and Hazel (Knight) Nelson. She was baptized and attended schools in Nekoma. On November 22, 1933 she was united in marriage to Julian Knutson in Nekoma. They moved to Montevideo, where she made her home for the remainder of her life with the exception of the time from 1958 - 1970 when they lived in Alexandria. She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church following her confirmation in 1937 and was active in it’s WELCA, circles and Dorcas bible study group. She volunteered to drive elderly friends and church members for groceries and church activities and was a member of homemakers and Montevideo Sr. Citizens. She took great pride in her family, friends and home.
She is survived by sons - Gary Knutson and his wife Valerie of Mesa, AZ and Keith Knutson and his wife Karen of St. Cloud, MN; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and by a sister - Alice Rustan of Milton, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother - Thea Myrvik Nelson; her husband Julian in 1987, a brother - Harley Nelson and three step-brothers - Earl, Duane and Walter Nelson.
