Ann Marie Hegg was born in Dawson, MN on December 21, 1947 to Harland and Millicent Thoen. She attended the Dawson Public Schools. She had one block to walk to school, but she made the trek and persevered to graduate from Dawson High in 1965. She believed the class of 1965 to be the best graduating class in Dawson history.

Following high school, Ann headed off to the big city of St. Paul, where she worked at the St. Paul Insurance Companies. She later worked for Chrysler City in St. Louis Park, MN for several years. Eventually she found her way to General Mills working in the Accounting area and retiring from that company.

Ann was married to Dennis Hegg on June 22, 1996. She and Denny became enamored with the buying and selling of antiques. So in Ann's 'retirement' years, she and Denny worked with their 'Treasures of Yesteryear' company and met and made friends with many people in the 'antique world'. They both really loved to find unique items and go to many antique shows.

Ann loved meeting people and making friends. In her earlier years she loved golfing and bowling, playing on several work leagues. In later years she and Denny spent much time at their lake place on Pelican Lake north of Brainerd. They loved having family and friends over to visit with them on their deck, often watching the sunsets or sitting around the campfire telling fish stories.

Ann was a cat person. She had her 3 cats Ole, Lena and the non-Scandinavian, Mittens, and they provided a lot of entertainment. She did love those cats! She often would say how much she missed them when they were gone.

Ann also greatly enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to entertain her nieces and nephews, and after marrying Denny had 3 step-daughters and their families to enjoy and love as well. She was a very generous person. She loved to give gifts for birthdays, Christmas of course, and almost any other holiday you could think of. She would never forget your birthday.

Ann and Denny lived for many years in Maple Grove, MN. Denny fought the hard fight against cancer and passed away in September of 2018. Ann was also preceded in death by her father, Harland Thoen, her mother Millicent Thoen, and her step-mother Gladys Thoen.

She is survived by her brother Larry Thoen (Cindy), her sister Pam Bertness (Mark), her step-daughters Tammy Waln (Keith), Dawn Schwartz (Jeff), and Debra Hegg, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She will be missed.
