Betty Behlings

Betty Behlings, of Madison, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Madison Care Center at the age of 88.

A family service will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 at the Madison Care Center Chapel with a burial to follow.  A public celebration of life will be held Friday July 21, 2023 starting at 12:00 PM at the Madison VFW.

Betty June Behlings was born July 17, 1934 in Madison, Minnesota to parents, Roy and Myrtle Granander. She was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational Church in Madison. She attended school in Madison and graduated in 1952. Following graduation, she attended typesetting school in the Twin Cities. Betty was united in marriage to Bruce Behlings on March 5, 1955. To this union four children were born. 

Betty worked many years for the County Attorney and for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. She was well known to many for “Betty’s Balloons” as she enjoyed decorating for many weddings, and creating balloon bouquets for all occasions.

In life, she enjoyed music, singing in the high school and church choir. She played clarinet in the marching band and community band. She also loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, and the joy it gave her to give her creations as gifts. Her favorite past time was spending time with family.

Betty passed away on June 8, 2023 at Madison Care Center. She reached the age of 88 years.

Betty is survived by her sisters Nancy Rivers, Paula (Walt) Johnson, brother Donald (June) Granander, sons Devon  Behlings, Victor (Deb) Behlings, Jay (Julie) Behlings, daughter Beth Kellen. grandchildren, Danielle (Tom) Walsh, Anna (Amery) Longman, Nathan Behlings (Kelsea), Jason (Ashley) Kellen, Ryan (Krista) Kellen, Brady (Mary) Kellen, great-grandchildren Ethan, Garrett, Ella, Owen, Oliver, August, Henry, Arlo, Oscar, Hadley, Winnie, Miles, Delilah, great-great grandchild Tobias and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
