Carol Siverhus Obituary

Carol Siverhus died Saturday, November 10, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family, in Montevideo at the age of 85.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 1:30 PM  at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Matt Philaya will officiate and interment will be at Strombeck Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5-7:00 PM at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7.  Visitation will also be held at the church for one hour before the service.

Carol Jean (Pearson) Siverhus was born January 31, 1933 at Montevideo, MN the daughter of Carl and Jeanette (Kennedy) Pearson.  She attended school in District 16 and later obtained her GED.  She married Iver Siverhus September 10, 1949 at Salem Lutheran Church.  They made their home in Montevideo and had one daughter, Janet Carol and a son, Bradley Carl who died at birth.  

Carol worked many jobs over the years.  She cooked in several cafes on Main Street, did house cleaning, and babysitting for kids and their family pets.  She was active at Salem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School.  She was a crafts woman.  She made dozens of quilts, braided rugs, art projects, crocheting and Ukranian eggs.  She also taught classes for many of these crafts.

She was an active member of Historic Chippewa City in Montevideo.  She served on its board, gave rug loom demonstrations, and participated in all aspects of the village.  Carol was inducted into the hall of fame in 2013.  Carol also found time to be a foster care provider for the elderly.  She was volunteer driver for family services and worked with Woodland Centers for over 20 years.  She was a hospice worker in Chippewa County for many years.   In 1986, Carol was recognized as the Chippewa County Volunteer of the Year in Region 6 of the Minnesota Social Services Association.

She loved doing things with her family and friends.  She enjoyed camping, boating, hiking, and looking for odd shaped pieces of wood.  Carol also enjoyed traveling including trips to Sweden and Norway.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Janet (Duane) Halstead of Montevideo; granddaughter, Carrie (Robert) Regnier;  great-grandchildren: Katlyn and Jordan; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Iver; a son, Bradley; brother, Dennis Pearson, Sr.; and three sisters: Veryl Fandrey, and Ruth Ann and Clarice Lee in infancy.
