Cora Gilbertson

Cora Gilbertson, of Prairie Park Place in Clara City, formerly of Montevideo, died Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the Clara City Care Center at the age of 92.

A time of gathering and fellowship will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at Raymond Christian Reformed Church in Raymond, MN with a memorial service beginning at 10:30 AM on Monday.  Rev. Aaron Greydanus and Rev. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Bible League International.

Cora Idella Saue was born August 28, 1928 in Swenoda Township, Swift County to Oscar and Ida (Lynne) Saue.  She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith.  Cora attended country school in district 49 up until 8th grade.  She was united in marriage to Julien Gilbertson on October 20, 1946 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church.  Together they had two children, Gary and Patricia.

For 15 years, Cora worked for Trailways Café in Montevideo as a waitress and later as a cook. Her faith was extremely important to her which was evident in her membership at Jevnaker Lutheran Church where she was very active teaching Sunday school, working in ladies aid, and being involved with the youth group.  Cora absolutely adored her family and loved going to the family lake home where she spent much of her time fishing and entertaining family and friends.   She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (John) Taatjes of Raymond, MN; grandchildren: Jennifer (Brett) Sims, Robert (Jennifer) Lewison, and Ryan  Lewison (significant other, Allison); great-grandchildren: Matthew, Teryn, Blake and Jay; great-great-grandchildren: Noah, Caleb, Kaladin, and Isaiah; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julien in 2008; son, Gary in 2008; four brothers, George, Orville, Percy, and Leslie; and a sister, Alice.
