Darlene Ulmer, of Granite Falls, died Monday, November 9, 2020 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 78.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Chapel in Granite Falls and is hosted by friends.
Darlene Grace Ulmer was born November 22, 1941 on the family farm near Fullerton, ND the daughter of Harold and Gladys (Sheppard) Ulmer. She graduated from Fullerton High School in 1959 and from Moorhead State University in 1963. Darlene was a physical education teacher and a coach. During her 35 year teaching career, she taught at Wheaton, MN high school and Bert Raney Elementary in Granite Falls. She always said it was the best job in the world getting to play all day but of course it was more than that. She also coached basketball, tennis and track & field.
She is survived by her sister, Shirlee of Plover, WI; nieces, Claudia (Mike) Urlaub of Gillette, WY and Debra (Rick) Fuehrer of Dickinson, ND; a nephew Dan (Lisa) Wolf of Moorhead, MN; a sister-in-law, Gladys Rott of West Fargo, ND; four great nieces; three great nephews; six great great nieces; and one great great nephew.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Donald Ulmer; a step-brother, Darwin Wolf; a step-sister, Luella Milligan; step mothers: Bertha and Wilda; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to multiple myeloma research at the Mayo Clinic.
