Helen Anderson Obituary

Helen Anderson of Montevideo died on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 95.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.  Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.  Masks and social distancing are required for the visitation and funeral service.

Helen Irene (Thorsen) Anderson was born December 23, 1925 in Redwood County, MN the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Schmidt) Thorsen.  She was united in marriage with Kenneth W.  Anderson April 7, 1945 in Montevideo.  Helen was a talented homemaker and artist. She expressed her creativity in various ways throughout her life and found her passion in stained glass. Her work is known throughout the Midwest and is present in many churches, chapels, public buildings and homes. Helen taught her craft to hundreds of students during the 35 years of her business. She and her husband, Kenny, liked tending to their beautifully landscaped home with flower beds and a large variety of trees and plants. They were both avid bird watchers. Helen and Kenny loved to travel and took at least one major trip a year. Helen was also very active in Our Saviors Lutheran Church acting as president of the ELCW, serving as conference stewardship secretary, teaching Sunday school and bible school and heading many special projects.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Titche of West Lafayette, IN; daughter-in-law, Myra Anderson of Montevideo; three grandchildren: Melissa Perkins of San Diego, CA, Jennifer Titche of West Lafayette, IN, and Ross (Kate) Anderson of Minneapolis, MN; and two great-grandchildren: Miles Perkins and Paloma Perkins.

Preceding her in death were her parents: Thomas and Mary (Schmidt) Thorsen; her husband, Kenneth W. Anderson, January 24, 2015; her son, Ralph Anderson; son-in-law, Leon Titche; and her siblings: Alice Wallace, Lavern Thorsen, and Doug Thorsen.
