James Laurence Gebur

James Gebur, of Dawson, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 62.

A benefit and celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Hilltop Bar & Grill in Dawson.

James Laurence Gebur was born May 2, 1960 in Watertown, SD to Laurence and Florence (McPeek) Gebur.  The family lived in the DeSmet, SD until 1973 when his family moved to Dawson.  Jim attended and graduated from Dawson-Boyd High school in 1978.  After high school Jim started working for Great Plains Lumber in Dawson and later started his career at AGP where he worked for over 30 years.  He was united in marriage to Debra Myers on August 12, 1978 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.  They made their home in Dawson and to this union one son was born, Aaron.

Jim had a love for fishing, hunting, and watching NASCAR.  He would take his family camping often, visiting many Minnesota State Parks.  He was a handy man around his home and rarely was there a job he couldn’t handle. 

Jim is survived by his wife, Deb of Dawson; son, Aaron Gebur of Kensington, MN; parents Laurence and Florence Gebur; brother, Bob (Connie) Gebur of Woodbury, MN; sister Deb Navratil of Dawson; and several extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents-in-law.
