Jeannette (Jacobsen) Rear

Jeannette Rear, formerly of Montevideo,  died on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Heathers Manor Assisted Living in Crystal at the age of 90. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev Jeff Fitzkappes will officiate and burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Arrangements are with Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Jeannette Leona (Jacobsen) Rear was born on a farm in Mandt Township, Chippewa County on November 30, 1927 to Nels and Selma (Larson) Jacobsen. 

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  She attended Banner Country School, Dist 11 and her freshman and sophomore years at Milan High School.  Her family moved to Anoka where she graduated from highschool in 1946.  She then took a short course in business at the Minneapolis Business College. 

She went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. starting in Anoka and later transferring to Montevideo when her family moved back.  She felt fortunate to be able to work at several jobs in the company, and later when the office in Montevideo closed she transferred to the Plymouth office and worked in the Message Investigation Center.  She later retired in 1983.  

On June 3, 1951 Jeannette was united in marriage to Denneth Rear at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  They were blessed with two children, Keith and Becky.  Her family and grandchildren were her pride and joy. 

She did some volunteer work at the Minnetonka Community Center and Calvary Lutheran Church of Golden Valley. 

She is survived by her two children: Keith (DeeAnna) Rear of Crystal, MN and Becky Gleason of  Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren: Amanda (Daniel) Brandon of  Atlanta, GA, Jacob Rear of St. Paul, MN,  Nevin Gleason of New York, NY and Megan Gleason of Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  Nels and Selma Jacobsen and her husband, Denneth on March 10, 1995.
