John Klang Obituary

John Klang, Montevideo, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls at the age of 91.

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 1 to 3 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.  A prayer service will be held at 3:00 PM with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

John Kenneth Klang was born on November 3, 1929 in Danvers, MN to Louis and Elsie Christensen Klang.  He attended school in the Danvers area.  He entered the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean Conflict.  On February 19, 1955 he married Cecilia Vander Weyst in Benson, MN.  They made their home in Montevideo and raised three children, Jim, Sue and Kathy.  John was the owner and operator of John’s Auto and Diesel Service for over 30 years.  He married Ellen White on June 30, 1995.  John and Ellen lived in Morris, MN and would winter in Mission, TX.  John entered the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls in October of 2020.

John was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, cemetery board, usher, Eucharistic minister and sang in the choir.  He was also a member of the Montevideo VFW and American Legion.  He enjoyed golfing, camping, dancing, hunting, fishing and bowling.   John was very proud of being involved with the diesel program at the Canby Vocational School.   In his last months, he really enjoyed going on car rides with family to explore the countryside and stop for a strawberry milkshake.

John is survived by his children: Jim (Deanne) Klang, Rice Lake, WI, Sue (Steve) Janssen, Morris, MN, Kathy (Shawn) Maroney, Montevideo, MN; numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren; siblings: Ronald (Judy) Klang, Karen (Skip) Thompson, Marlys Gallagher, Dennis Klang, Gerald (Karen) Klang; sister-in -law, Jan Klang; and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cecilia; two infant children: Mary and John Peter; siblings Lawrence Klang, Robert Klang, Kelly Klang; brother-in-law, Tom Gallagher.
