Karen Jean (Thompson) Thorstad

Karen Thorstad, of Sacred Heart, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Avera Granite Falls Hospital at the age of 76.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Anderson – TeBeest Funeral Home in Granite Falls with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Karen Jean Thompson was born May 28, 1946 in Montevideo, MN to Jerome and Adeline (Rustad) Thompson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart.  Karen attended and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1964.  She was united in marriage to Keith Thorstad on June 25, 1966 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart.  They made their home on Seymore Johnson Airforce Base in Goldsboro, NC while Keith was in the Air Force.  They then moved to Granite Falls in 1969 and later moved to Sacred Heart where they made their home.  She enjoyed shopping, which included her time watching QVC, going to garage sales, thrift stores, and antique shops.  Karen would shop frequently and did so with her daughter-in-law, Bonnie.  She also enjoyed riding four-wheeler with her friends, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; son, Eric (Bonnie) Thorstad of Dassel, MN; brother, Daniel (Gail) Thompson of Youngstown, OH; special family friend, David (Barb) Nerdahl; and other extended family and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents.

Our family would like to thank Linda and Jeanne Berends for taking Karen to her many appointments, taking her shopping and being a very dear friend to her.
