Leona Edna Krugerud passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 101.

Leona Edna (Hiepler) Krugerud was born September 8, 1919 in rural Boyd to Fred and Ida (Nohrenberg) Hiepler. She grew up on a farm and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Merlin Krugerud on October 20, 1936. To this union were born five children: Melroy, Janice, Ronald, Sandra, and Bradley.
Leona worked at several businesses in the Dawson area including the Dawson Creamery, and several local restaurants. She also made hand loomed rugs, and did house cleaning, painting, and wallpapering. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses many people enjoyed talking to her about the Bible.
Leona is survived by three children: Janice (John) Holan of Mounds View, MN, Ronald (Lynn) Krugerud of Dawson, MN, and Sandra Steen of Zimmerman, MN; sisters: Deloris (Woody) Kojetin of Stillwater, MN and Eyvonne Hoese of Granite Falls, MN; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlin; children: Bradley and Melroy; brothers: Edwin Hiepler and Earl Hiepler; sister, Anna Krugerud; daughter-in-law, Carol Krugerud; and sons-in-law: Kenny Kanstrup and David Steen.
Leona was a resident for eleven and a half years at Johnson Memorial Care Center. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the nurses and entire staff for all their wonderful care.
