Milton Ben Goplen was born May 10, 1938 in Granite Falls, MN to Ben and Francis (Lamb) Goplen.  He graduated from Long Prairie High School.  Milton was united in marriage to Virginia Glee Hubbard on June 11, 1960 in Long Prairie, MN.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1963.  Milton and Virginia then made their home in Dawson, MN where they raised their five daughters.

Milton was a long-time member of Dawson Covenant Church where he was the head usher and very involved with church activities.  Milton farmed, raised pigs and cattle, as well as worked for AGP driving truck for over 40 years, driving over 2 million miles accident free. Milton was a member of the American legion, and a longtime blood donor to the American red cross. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors giving gator rides, driving go carts, spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them about nature. He loved having coffee and conversation with friends and was very well known for his jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia; daughters, Cheryl (Dean) Engelman of Lakeville, MN, Lisa (Steve) Bothun of Rosemount, MN,  Carla (John) Lee of Dawson, MN,  Malea (Mark Sun) Goplen of Minneapolis, MN, and Elise Goplen of Lakeville, MN; his 10 grandchildren, Dylan (Stef) Bothun, Garrett (Michelle) Bothun, Kristen (Trevor McKown) Lee, Leah (Randall) Porter, Melissa (Ben) Coleman, Mari (Christian Pekarek) Lee; Michael (Angela Young) Lee; Grace (Alejandro Gonzalez) Engelman; Colten Himmelwright and Isla Goplen;  3 great-grandchildren Bev and Callie Bothun, Brynn Bothun; his sisters, Gerda Bliss of Canby, MN, and Linda Petrie of Isanti, MN; his brother Marvin Goplen of Gary, SD; and several extended family and friends.
