Pauline Kittelson Obituary

Pauline Kittelson, Montevideo died on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 92.

Memorial services will be held May 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.  Rev. Donald S. Mckee will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pauline (Stub) Anne Kittelson was born on June 14, 1928 in a farmhouse in Rosewood Township, Chippewa County to Halvor and Amanda (Hawkinson) Bourne.  She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  She grew up in the Rosewood County area and attended first country school and then school in Montevideo, graduating in 1946.  On June 6, 1948 Pauline was united in marriage to Lamore Kittelson at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  They had six children.  Before and after marriage Pauline worked several jobs outside the home starting at the old canning factory and then as a clerk or bookkeeper for several businesses in town.

Pauline was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran church where she taught Sunday school and participated in Martha Circle.  She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Chippewa County Historical Society. Pauline volunteered at the Montevideo Hospital gift case for 6 years.  She had a passion and talent for knitting and enjoyed visiting with those that stopped by.  She created many family heirloom afghans, sweaters, baptismal dresses, etc. that family and friends will cherish.

Stub and Lamore (Lem) spent much of their leisure time taking their family camping. They started doing this when their kids were little and this continued for many years. They started out in tents and graduated to trailers, creating many special family memories that continue to this day with their great-grandchildren.

In later years, Pauline became known for always having a treat (Special K bars, strawberry rhubarb jam, cookies, sweet pickles etc.) ready for friends, family and anyone else who stopped by the house to offer friendship, help, or drop off a prescription.

Pauline is survived by her children: Lance (Sandy) Kittelson, Shickshinny, PA; Reid (Deb) Kittelson, Lincoln, NE; Grant Kittelson, Brooklyn Park, MN; and Paula (Kelly) Ewald, Farmington, MN; six grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings Carol Gilchrist, Margaret Casler, both of Alexandria, MN, Marlys Borstad, Madison, MN, Richard Bourne, San Diego, CA, and sister-in-law, Evelyn Bourne, Montevideo as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lamore; daughter, Lynn; son, Juel; siblings: Marion Hofner, Bert Bourne, Alma Brown, Robert Bourne & Doris Williamson; sisters-in-law: Norma Bourne and Loretta Bourne; brothers-in-law: Bill Hofner, Earl Brown, David Gilchrist, Lloyd Williamson, Darwin Casler and Stuart Borstad; and special friend, Jackie Neuschwander.

Blessed be her memory
