Ritha Faye Elsner-Ebnet died on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at her home in Madison.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Ritha Faye Elsner-Ebnet was born in Mercedes, Texas on April 9, 1947 to Homer M Gorhum and Lilly Mayo Barnum. She grew up in Weslaco, Texas and moved to South Dakota in the 1970's. She married Eugene Elsner and they lived in Langford, SD. Eugene died in 1993. In 2001, Ritha met and married Ray G. Ebnet in Madison, MN.

Ritha enjoyed sewing and crafts. She was proud of her Cherokee heritage.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; daughters: Angela Elsner-Brown of Bellingham, MN, Onie Mechell Christians of Maine; five grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ella Rae and Onie May both of Texas; step-children: Tamara Mwambi, Melissa Quillin, Anna Ebnet, Joseph Ebnet; and her best friend, Mary Davis of Madison.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Eugene.
