Robert Kenneth Jones was born December 9, 1933 in Montevideo, MN to John and Talea (Kuiper) Jones. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Bob attended Sibley School and then Montevideo High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1956, serving in Korea and receiving his honorable discharge in 1958. Bob was united in marriage to Elsie McDougal on June 25, 1960 and to this union two sons were born. Returning from the service, Bob farmed with his Dad before beginning a career with MSM Heating in Montevideo. He was also the joint owner of Carousel Beauty in Montevideo and Terrific Tan salons in both Montevideo and Willmar. A second career at Innovex followed. Bob enjoyed being productive. Throughout “retirement” he continued with several jobs including the local bank, post office, and ACE Hardware - where he was unloading trucks well into his 70’s.

Bob was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, and belonged to the church property board.  He was a founding member, vocalist, and rhythm guitarist for The Rockin’ Rebels following his return from Korea, and his love of music would continue for the rest of his life. Bob was also a member of the Montevideo VFW and Scenic Valley Cruiser Car Club. He enjoyed classic cars, woodworking, gardening, traveling, dancing, and visiting.
