Selma Kahnk Obituary

Selma Kahnk, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo at the age of 88.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Watson Lutheran Church in Watson.  Vicar Linda Estling will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

Selma Lenora (Olson) Kahnk was born November 23, 1929 at Dawson, MN the daughter of Martin and Clara (Asjelsen) Olson.  She was baptized December 8, 1929 and confirmed May 28, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Selma was united in marriage with Raymond Kahnk on June 23, 1952 in Dawson.  They made their home on a farm near Watson.  She enjoyed living on the farm and spending time with family.  Selma was a waitress at many locations including the Watson Cafe,  Bungalow, Trailways, Mall Café, and Mohawk Café.  Ray and Selma moved from the farm into Montevideo in 1999. She was a member of the Watson Lutheran Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed flower gardening, bingo, playing solitaire, doing cryptograms, but most of all spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; three daughters: Susan (Tom) Anderson of Montevideo, Vickie (Ken) Wiesen of Sartell, and Debra (Bill) Monahan of Montevideo; seven grandchildren: Ted (Kristin) Anderson, Leanne (Tony) Stephens, Tara (Corey) Meisner, Aaron (Alli) Wiesen, Ryan (Lauren) Wiesen, Kristen Wiesen, and Shelby (Josh Moen) Monahan; thirteen great-grandchildren: Haylee, Emily, Alex, Rayann, Abby, Kenzie, Hannah, Connor, Joseph, Austin, Macy, Lexy, and Blakely; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two great-grandsons: Logan Ray Stephens and Dominic Michael Wiesen; six brothers: Elmer, Lloyd, Glenn, Alfred, Selvin, and Norman; and two sisters: Gladys Nash and Myrtle Lund.
