Shirlee Ulmer

Shirlee Ulmer died on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI at the age of 73.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00AM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Granite Falls, MN.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.

Shirlee Ann Ulmer was born on May 28, 1949 in Aberdeen, SD the daughter of Harold and Gladys (Sheppard) Ulmer.  She graduated from Fullerton, ND High School in 1968.  She attended one semester of college at Moorhead State University.  After that semester her dad decided she needed to visit her brother in St. Paul.  After arriving in St. Paul she found a job at Dairyland Insurance as a typist.  This was the beginning of her 38 year career with Dairyland Insurance.  Her vast business knowledge gave her the opportunity to move to Stevens Point, WI to  become the Business Analyst Specialist in 1990 until her retirement in 2006.

The summers of 1980-2000 found Shirlee, Darlene and Karen Gilbertson camping, antiquing and going to see the different Major League Baseball stadiums. Fall found the girls enjoying Broadway shows at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul with their brother Don.  After moving to Plover, she met her co-worker Janet and they became great friends and enjoyed antiquing together.

Following her retirement Shirlee and Darlene enjoyed spending their winters with their Granite Falls friends in Sun City West, AZ.  

She is survived by her  nieces: Claudia (Mike) Urlaub of Gillette, WY and Deb (Rick) Fuehrer of Dickinson, ND; a nephew Dan (Lisa) Wolf of Moorhead, MN; a sister-in-law, Gladys Rott of West Fargo, ND; four great nieces; three great nephews; six great great nieces; and two great great nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Donald Ulmer; sister: Darlene Ulmer;  a step-brother, Darwin Wolf; a step-sister, Luella Milligan; step mothers: Bertha and Wilda; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
