Tyler Ryan Niemeyer

Tyler Niemeyer passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 36.  He passed away as the result of severe brain damage caused by a diabetic hypoglycemic coma. 

A Celebration of his life will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 from 2-4:30 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a time of sharing starting at 4:30.  In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to fulfill Tyler’s final wish.  

Tyler Ryan Niemeyer was born August 28, 1981 in Montevideo to Doug and Peggy (Koenen) Niemeyer.  He attended school in Montevideo, and graduated in 1999.  Tyler worked at the movie theater for several years and with Deb Grussing at Onward Services.  On August 30, 2008, he was united in marriage to Jammie White in Montevideo.  They lived together in Granite Falls and then moved to Maynard. 

Tyler’s family was very proud of his musical talents whether he was writing his own music or warming other hearts by playing and singing songs that they loved to hear.  His voice was passionate and clear, truly a gift to the world.  Guitar was his love, but he was able to easily pick up and learn other instruments. 

Tyler enjoyed watching football on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday nights with his wife, and going to the lake to fish with his friend Christopher.  He loved spending time with his girls, always putting their needs before his and frequently enjoyed debating with Amanda. 

Tyler was known for his spontaneity, for always speaking his mind and making a stand for what he believed in, whether it be politics or religion.  He was creative in all aspects of his life enjoying the challenge and the satisfaction of having a perfectly made meal.  He loved cooking with his mom, and enjoying the favorite meals she made for him. 

Tyler’s journey here was not for the faint of heart.  He truly was a soldier who deserves the highest award possible for his valiant fight.  His request is that his remains be brought back to San Francisco, where he recollected it being one of the best and happiest times in his life.  

Tyler is survived by his wife, Jammie; daughters: Ashley, Amber, and Amanda Balfany; his loving pets “babies”: Tinkerbell, Izabella, Nala, and Tigerlily; his parents; brothers: Jason (Erica) Niemeyer of Harrisburg, SD and Tony (Jaime) Niemeyer of Granite Falls, MN; sister, Hope Ilaug (Jaris) of Harrisburg, SD; grandmother, Ramona Niemeyer; and five nephews and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Zachary; his grandpa, Harold Niemeyer; and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Viola (Galbrecht) Koenen.

Forever loved and missed by his devoted wife, his girls, mom and dad, brothers and sister, family and friends. 

Gazing off the Golden Gate Bridge... We will let him spread his wings...and fly to wherever his dreams take him.
