Agnes Emilia (Johnson) Simonson

Agnes Emilia Simonson was born December 7, 1916, at Appleton, MN, to Fred and Ingeborg (Johnson) Johnson.  She grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton High School.  She received her nurses training in Dawson and worked as a nurse in Dawson and Starbuck, MN.  Agnes married Larry Simonson on May 30, 1942, in Appleton.  They moved to Dawson where they farmed until 1949.  They moved to Browns Valley, SD, where they farmed for 10 years and moved to Sisseton and lived for 10 years.  They moved to Lake Kampeska near Watertown, SD, and wintered in Mesa, AZ, for the next 30 years during which they did much traveling.  In 1992, they retired to Sturgis.  Agnes was associated with the Calvary Baptist Church in Sturgis.
    Agnes died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at the Sturgis Community Health Care Center at the age of 83.
    Survivors include her husband, Larry Simonson, Sturgis; daughter, Diane (Ron) Johnson of Sturgis; two grandchildren: Brian (Cathy) Johnson of Sturgis and Debra (Alan) Christianson of Iowa City, IA; two great-grandchildren: Amanda and Aaron; brother, Ted Johnson of Loveland, CO; and sister, Alice Kositzke of Hancock, MN.
    Her parents, three sisters, and one brother preceded her in death.
