Dolores Louise Jaspersen was born on June 25, 1932 in Lake Benton, MN to Bernard and Esther (Herschberger) Kock.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Benton.  Dolores attended and graduated from Lake Benton High School.  She was united in marriage to James Jaspersen on  February 3, 1951 in Lake Benton.  They lived in Tyler, MN until 1966, when they moved to Montevideo.  Dolores and Jim had three boys: Craig, Mark and Scott.

Dolores was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, worked on various committees, and led Bible studies.  She was a member of the Women of the ELCA and was very active holding various positions in the organization.  She was also a board member of Brookside Manor for several years.  Dolores enjoyed gospel music, movies and had a wonderful collection of teddy bears.  Many children in the community would visit as pre-schoolers to Dolores’ home where she would have a teddy bear talk and share her love of collecting teddy bears.  This led many people to lovingly call Dolores “the teddy bear Lady”.

For over 45 years Dolores was a strong supporter for disabled children and adults.  She served over 45 years on the DAC board (Chippewa Enterprises).  She was also active in the Special Olympics program.  Dolores was an advocate in main streaming disabled and challenged children into the classroom at school in Montevideo.  Most of all, family remembers that Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Dolores is survived by her children: Craig (Lisa) Jaspersen, Pipestone, and Mark (Kerry) Jaspersen, Montevideo; three grandchildren: Nolan (Jenna) Jaspersen, Isaac Jaspersen and Kady Jaspersen; one great-grandchild: Taya Jaspersen; a sister, Shirley Peterson, Lake Benton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; son, Scott; brothers: Harold Kock and Vernon Kock and extended family and friends.

Blessed be her memory.
