June Lynne was born on August 30, 1962 in McLaughlin, SD to Richard and Esther (Fritz) Goetz and was the seventh of eight children.  June was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church in Isabel, SD, her sponsors were John and Violet Rost, with whom she maintained contact.  When June was 3 years old, the family moved to the small town of Selby, SD.  June attended Sunday School and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Selby, SD.  June attended school in Selby, SD until she was 16.  She was very active in band, playing the french horn. When June was 16, she moved to Montevideo, MN to live with her oldest sibling Leta.  On June 10, 1979, she met the love of her life, Scott Lynne, when he was driving a 1977 yellow Chevrolet Camaro, and she wanted to ride in the cool car.  In 1980, June graduated in the top 10% of her class from Montevideo Senior High School.  She married Scott Lynne on September 13, 1980, in Selby, SD at St. John's Lutheran Church.  Her and Scott lived in Montevideo all of their lives, despite June's love for warm weather, beaches, and the ocean.

June worked for Menards, Culligan, and the Montevideo Chamber of Commerce, and two weeks for Montevideo Publishing, before she found her passion working for the Chippewa County Historical Society, where she worked as it's Executive Director for the last 24 years.  It was a job that she loved through her last day.

During her free time June was very active in the Montevideo community and Trinity Lutheran Church.  She was a member of the Montevideo Lions and served as their Vice President.  She was a member of Prairies Waters since its inception and served as it's Vice President and Chairperson, and through her work with the historical society was a member of the Convention and Visitors Bureau.  June also served on the Montevideo Area Community Foundation board for over 10 years and also served as its President.  In 2001 she received the Community Involvement Award an Award from the Montevideo Publishing.  In 2005 she received the Friend of 4-H Award from Chippewa County 4-H.  She was a confirmation guide for both of her children at Trinity Lutheran Church and served on it's property board.  She also worked with girl scouts and boy scouts.  Montevideo has always been an open and accepting community, and it was June's privilege and great joy to serve it and help the community in any way she could.

June is survived by her mother, Esther Goetz of Selby, SD; husband, Scott; her two children, Dustin and Krystal all of Montevideo, MN; her sisters: Leta (Allen) Angrimson of Montevideo, MN, Ivy (Stan) Allard of Rapid City, SD, Patty (Kelly) Taft of Spearfish, SD, and Joy (John) Flanagan of Minot, ND; her bothers, Max Goetz of Selby, SD, Ivan (Shelly) Goetz of Spearfish, SD, and Richard (Brenda) Goetz of Spearfish, SD; 6 aunts and uncles; 23 nieces and nephews; 26 great nieces and nephews; 1 great-great niece; 1 great-great nephew; numerous beloved cousins; and her treasured brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kathryn (Dale) Knoshal, Marsha (Steven) Walstrom, and Steven (Sachiko) Lynne.

June was preceded in death by her father, Richard; brothers-in-law: Wayne and Bruce Lynne; nephew, Lane Knoshal; niece, Amy Wolf; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Palmer and Della (Due) Lynne.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials in June's name be given to the Montevideo Area Community Foundation noting the Preservation Endowment for the Chippewa County Historical Society.
