Lloyd Williamson, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 85. Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Lloyd Allen Williamson was born on November 3, 1923 in Sparta Township of Chippewa County, MN to Lorenzo and Elizabeth (Williams) Williamson. He was baptized on June 16, 1926 at the Methodist Episcopal Church, grew up in Sparta Township and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1941. He served in the US Navy, where he taught radio school, and in the Marine Corps. during World War II. On February 25, 1946, he was united in marriage to Doris Bourne in Montevideo. They lived and farmed in Havelock Township. Many of Lloyd and Doris' retirement winters were spent at their "condo" in Maui, Hawaii where they enjoyed golfing, swimming and sunshine. They spent summers in Minnesota with family at the farm and at their Maple Lake cabin. Lloyd was a member of the United Methodist Church in Montevideo, the Maynard American Legion Post and the Montevideo VFW Post. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, swimming, playing golf, watching PBR Rodeo and many news programs. Lloyd and Doris were proficient cribbage players. "Grandpa Lloyd" enjoyed many card games with his family. UNO , in particular, with his grandchildren would get loud and full of laughter. He is survived by his wife, Doris; four daughters: Paulette (and Ralph) Jelen, Barbara (and Roger) DeBeer; Mary Ann (and Bruce) Anderson and Nan Abel; four sons: Tom (and Karleen) Williamson, Harvey (and Bonnie) Williamson, John (and Sheree) Williamson and Robert (and fiancee Rhonda) Williamson; twenty-six grandchildren: Scott and wife Connie, Julie and husband Pat, Matt and wife Angie, Chris and wife Shawna, Craig and fiancee Sheila, Amy and husband Joshua; Sara, Tami and husband Dave, Kjersti and husband Kevin, Shalesha and husband Dustin, Lee, Lynn, Mark and wife Melissa, Heather, Bill and wife Jaime, Mike and wife Lori, Wade and wife Janell, Dusten and wife Lea, James, Richard, Tara, Jason and wife Kathy, Patrick and fiancee Alisa, Angela, Cory and Brittany; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren: Adam, Allison, Courtney, Brandon, Aubrey, Ethan, Carter, Dylan, Kami, Colleen, Michael, Madison, Shayne, Kelby, Kaisa, Cody, Elsie, Lorenzo, Zachary, Mitchell, Amanda, Katie, Ashley, Tori, Chris, Madison, Maycie, Liana and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons: Travis Williamson and Robert Thompson; a great-grandson, Carter Williamson; and a brother, Beryl Williamson.
