Mildred Hildahl

Mildred Hildahl, of rural Granite Falls, died Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 95.  

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Bergen Lutheran Church, rural Granite Falls.  Rev. Steve Quist will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.  Arrangements are with Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Mildred Lucille Hildahl was born April 24, 1922 in Madison, Minnesota to Lewis and Hulda (Erickson) Overland. She was baptized and confirmed at the Providence Valley Lutheran Church in rural Dawson. Mildred grew up in the Madison area and attended country school through the 8th grade. 

On June 21, 1947 Mildred was united in marriage to Ervin Hildahl at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They lived and farmed in Stony Run Township.  They purchased a farm in 1955 where Mildred assisted Ervin in their farming operation. For many years Mildred also raised chickens and sold eggs to local customers. She enjoyed providing coffee and sweets along with conversation to her egg buyers. In 1967 Mildred and Ervin built a new house on their farm. Then in December of 2008, after living there nearly 53 years they moved to the Clarkfield Care Center. Mildred was active in the Bergen Lutheran Church teaching Sunday school, participating in Ladies Aid and Circle, holding officer positions at various times. Mildred also served as an adult leader in 4-H. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and writing letters. Mildred and Ervin loved to travel on motor coach tours or by train or camper to all parts of the United States as well as Canada and Mexico. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ervin in 2011, her daughter Marlys Hays in 2014 and her brother Lanford Overland.
