Warren Streed

June 6, 1921 ~ December 30, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Warren Streed, of Milan died on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 96.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Kristine Isder officiating.  Burial will be in the Kviteseid Lutheran-Milan Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Warren Streed was born in Edison Township, Swift County in Minnesota to Edward and Onetta (Stevenson) Streed.  He grew up in the Edison Township area and attended Beal Country School and then school in Milan.  On January 30, 1942 he was united in marriage to Lyla Hantho at her family farm in Lac qui Parle County.  They lived and farmed for many years in Edison Township of Swift County.  In 1979 they moved to Milan and then to Appleton in 2008.  Following Lyla’s death in 2010 Warren moved to Montevideo first to Copper Glen and then to Luther Haven Nursing Home.

Warren was a member of Milan Methodist Church where he served on various boards of the congregation.  He served on the Milan Elevator Board and the Edison Township Board.  He enjoyed flower gardening, going to the lake and Arizona, dancing and fishing.  Warren’s family and friends remember that he was always on the go and had a sense of humor.  He would go to great lengths to play pranks on family and friends.  He and Lyla would winter in Arizona where Warren would play shuffleboard and paint.  He also like to collect mantel clocks.  Warren would not miss an opportunity to sit with friends and have lively discussions with them.

Warren is survived by his children: Wanda (Gary) Boyer of Fridley, MN, Ronald (Nancy) Streed of Milan, and Mark (Janelle) Streed of Milan; five grandchildren:Andy( Merli) Streed, Eric (Lori) Streed, Shannon (Corey) Hansen, Kelsy (Jason) Moe, Bretta (Jeff) Thielman; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lyla, a son, James and his 10 brothers and sisters.
