Wilma (Deal) Bosch

Wilma Bosch of Montevideo died on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 82. She passed peacefully due to complications of multiple strokes in the presence of family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Sam Kautz officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:45 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Wilma Frances (Deal) Bosch was born in Tracy, MN to William and Bertha (Doble) Deal on March 10, 1935. She attended school in Tracy where she was active in band, choir, Future Homemakers of America, Jr. Play, and National Honor Society. She graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1953. Following high school, she attended the University of Minnesota where she majored in Home Economics Education. While at the University, Wilma was active in the Beta of Clovia Sorority, the Phi Upsilon Omicron Honor Society, and in the Wesley Foundation. Upon graduation, she taught one year in both St. Paul and Montevideo School Districts. She married Norman Bosch on August 4, 1957 in Tracy, Minnesota. Norman and Wilma lived at the Bosch home farm in Grace Township until 1993, when they moved to a home in Montevideo.

Wilma enjoyed her role as wife and mother. She and Norman were true partners in life, raising their 5 children together. Wilma’s faith and her church were very important to her. She served as a church organist for the Rosewood United Methodist Church for many years and continued to play regularly at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo. Wilma and Norman participated in Rosewood’s Kum Double club enjoying fellowship with their Rosewood friends. She was member of church circle and served on a variety of committees. Wilma was very active in the United Methodist Women at the local and district level and most recently served as treasurer for the local group. She also enjoyed working on various mission projects for the church as well as serving as the chair of the annual ice cream social.

4-H was a big part of Wilma’s life. She was a life-long and committed  member, leader and supporter for the local and state 4-H program, including serving on the Minnesota State 4-H Foundation. Wilma also loved the Montevideo community. She was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, a member of the Chippewa County Historical Society and the Minnesota Valley Community Concert Association. She was a wonderful supporter of the Montevideo schools with attendance at concerts and sporting events even when she didn’t have children and grandchildren participating. She also enjoyed entertaining, sewing, playing piano, baking, traveling and having a beautiful garden with fresh flowers in her home. She and Norman hosted several exchange students from the United States and internationally over the years and enjoyed keeping in touch with them.

Family was Wilma’s priority and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her love. She was very proud of her family and would go to great lengths to attend their activities and concerts, even traveling out of state. Wilma passed on life lessons in generosity, compassion and how to treat others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who lived and showed her faith and love by her actions and the sharing of her time and resources

Wilma is survived by her children: Bradley (Gail) of Woodridge, IL, Steven (Marcy) of Spirit Lake, IA, JoEllen Park of Anoka, MN, Kent (Janet) of Montevideo, MN and Julie Drechsler of Hamilton, Victoria, Australia; 13 grandchildren: Sara (Bryan), Nathan (Jayne), Carrie (Dan), Peyton, Matthew, Andrew, Taylor, Morghan, Alexandra, Anthony, William, Kate, and David; 3 great-grandchildren: Amelia, Rebecca and James; brother, Harold (Jacqueline) Deal; sister, Joanne Biggin; brothers-in-law: Ronald (Karen) Stevens and Doug Bosch; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman in 2015; sisters-in-law, Joyce Stevens and Barb Bosch; brother-in-law, Malcom Biggin; nephew, David Deal; and niece, Janell (Stevens) Johnk.

Memorials preferred to Minnesota 4-H Foundation, Montevideo United Methodist Church and American Cancer Society.
